Focus Forward is excited to be in Los Angeles this week for Film Independent’s 2012 L.A. Film Fest, where we will debut four new three-minute films about world-changing ideas. These are:
1. “Good Bread” – Directed by Eddie Schmidt
2. “Remote Area Medical” – Directed by Jeff Reichert and Farihah Zaman
3. “Robot” – Directed by Liz Garbus
4. “New Gift” – Directed by Supriyo Sen
Not only is Focus Forward premiering these films at the festival and online as part of our “Short Films, Big Ideas” initiative (check back on Monday, June 18, when they will go live on VIMEO and at this website), we are also sponsoring a panel discussion on Saturday focused on the increasingly powerful influence that short-form storytelling has in our digital world.
“Long Story Short: The Art and Power of Online Storytelling,” will bring together panelists Amber Lawson, Chairman of The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Interactive Media Peer Group Membership; Eddie Schmidt, director, Good Bread; executive producer, Beauty is Embarrassing, (both of which are showing at the Festival this year); Peter Glatzer, feature film producer and co-founder of SHFT.com; and Thomas Zadra, Head of Business Development for Original Video, Yahoo! to discuss the creative and financial opportunities for professionally produced, short-form original content in the digital marketplace.
If you live in the LA area or plan to attend the festival, join us for this energetic dialogue with some of the key filmmakers and industry experts who are leading the charge, hosted by our good friend Holly Willis, professor at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
